Mision

Mónica Urquijo is a company with a gender perspective, a leader in textile innovation, which integrates the best environment, with the Colombian cultural traditions associated with the tissue under criteria of quality, reliability and corporate social responsibility.

Our company works with 250 female heads of households in rural areas of the Colombian Caribbean Coast-many of them displaced by violence in Colombia, who arrived in urban areas of the Department of Atlanta, without further job opportunities, but today work from their homes in different municipalities atlanticenses, from the recovery of the fabric of their culture, and techniques that the same company offers them through education and training.

Developing innovative, part of the research work which for several years, conducted the Manager of the Enterprise, Monica Urquijo, in different territories Colombians, allowed this emprendora, identify a wide range of blends and textures in natural fibres, which has been developing high-level processes within the global textile field, as has been recognized by Multinational Enterprises of the stature of Polo Ralph Lauren and specialized magazines, as Axxis, Elle Décor and Money.

HistorY

Completed studies textile design between Bogota and Paris, Monica Urquijo assumes the challenge of returning to their roots in a quest for learning traditional, enabling it to explore new creative processes and generate original works from the culture, nature and Colombian people.

Monica is assumed enterprising and so begins his apprenticeship in an exploration throughout the country in search of the tissue culture of each territory and its textile processes, learn to know detail to Colombia, their cultural traditions and interrelated with social networks that generates tissue in all national cultures

Learn also the contemplation of nature, its potential, the challenges go beyond what exists in the use of natural resources and ancestral ties with the fabric of social construction.

Learn and cree in the people who will know each other, and dare gamble on big challenges. Learn the patience, valuing what it is and what is inherent in every corner of the country. It's a learning in practice, in the exercise of the profession, in the event of unusual results.

In this way, lies with the potential, especially in indigenous and peasant women, and finds in them the will, wisdom and tradition associated with tissue and the territorial roots.

Thus was born the Textiles Company Monica Urquijo. Not as a company focused on the individual, the designer, but a company that is known for organizing women's groups go weavers throughout the country, generating them in hopes of a better life; develop processes and products that integrate culture and resources natural; using simple techniques and traditional; imposing creativity and quality above everything, and thinking big: creating Colombian peasant hands for more sophisticated international markets.
